Museu Municipal de São Filipeis a museum located in the historic center of São Filipe, on the island of Fogo, Cabo Verde; It is located in a sobrado, a colonial townhouse. The museum was opened on the 13th of December, 2008, by the town president Eugênio Miranda da Veiga.

Museu Principals’ structure is in itself an artwork, it is a two-story colonial building and a place to find antique everyday items used by our island ancestors. You get to see items like sewing Machines, photographs and traditional musical instruments aside other odd bits and bobs.

Interestingly, you can watch the 28-minute film about the 1995 volcano eruption, the most recent eruption prior to the 2014 blast. It's also worth having a peek at the funco, a traditional circular abode made of volcanic rock, in the leafy courtyard.
