There’s absolutely no way for you to appreciate the inner workings of a country until you venture off the tourist trail. Cabo Verde is no different; if what you want is to appreciate and understand our country then you’ll have to partake in a few activities like a local.

Espargos, located on Sal, Cabo Verde’s largest island got its name from the wild vegetable, Asparagus stalk which grows in sandy areas around the island.

A simple trek through the streets of Esparagos can be compared to taking a trip to the past, to a time when things were much simpler than they are now. Esparagos gives off a laid back “vibe”.

The Salt mines located in Esparagos are a joy to behold, there’s so much to experience in the salt mines when it comes down to it, you can’t help but enjoy the sensation of “floating” in salty water.

Esparagos is perfect for those of us that prefer taking life one step at a time, by extension Esparagos really represents how most Cabo Verdeans are, laid back and beautiful.

Now, that’s a treat
