The Cabo Verdean Island of Brava will make you feel as though you were in the biggest garden ever. There are a lot of vegetations on the island and with that comes an abundance of clean air
Some other things that are worth knowing about Brava, include the fact that it is home to exciting sites including the Monte Fontainhas peak, Vila Nova Sintra, the main town, known for its flower-filled gardens, Fajã de Água is a village set on a bay against a backdrop of steep cliffs. Then we have the Nossa Senhora do Monte and the fishing port Furna.
Brava is best described as the greenest, coolest and one of the smallest islands on Cabo Verde with its own unique climate. Brava often seems very quiet and sleepy when compared to the lively, bustling major cities and islands in Cabo Verde.
While most of the tourists tend to flock to the dry, sandy islands such as Sal or Boa Vista, Brava is still the one that feels the most peaceful. Contrary to most other islands, you’ll find very little crowds of tourists in Brava.
Brava is pretty close to another interesting island with the infamous volcano in its center called Fogo. When you visit Fogo, make the effort to visit Brava- they are incredibly close to each other and it feels like a completely different world.
Even though Brava does not have typical sandy beaches as other Cabo Verdean islands, it has an array of amazing cliffs, coastline, nature and pretty much the most picturesque towns in our country.
Brava is extremely green, humid and has amazing natural sights. Thankfully, to explore around the island only takes about a day.
There are a number of beautiful spots in Brava - the little city of Nova Sintra (Brava's capital where you can find the main square and the statue of the famous Cabo Verdean writer - Eugenio Tavares), the coastline, local villages in the center and the region of Faja in the north - it has a long pebble beach, spectacular cliffs and natural pools made of volcanic rock.
Exploring Brava is bound to be a great experience and we really recommend that you visit and experience this magnificent island when you visit Cabo Verde. Enjoy the sweetness of nature; try not to limit yourself to tourist hotspots.
